J-K - Complexo de Inferioridade Ep - Artwork

For those who have been following my blog, it's no news that i'm in charge of the artwork of the portuguese net label MONSTER JINX. The first edition, MONSTRO ROBOT, was really well received, and has proven for sure that hard work and doing what you love pays off. It's awesomeness is beyond limits and it's certainly one of the albums of the year!
And to join it, is now COMPLEXO DE INFERIORIDADE ep, by J-K.
Once again, may sound suspicious coming from me, but take a listen, it's really worth it. I can't stop hearing it!!! Here's the press release (for those who read portuguese), the artwork, and a download link for the ep!


"Depois de Monstro Robot, chega-nos o segundo projecto da série de lançamentos que constituem a Primeira Vaga de edições da Monster Jinx, o EP "Complexo de Inferioridade" do rapper J-K.

A relva tem que ser mais verde no local onde este trabalho foi escrito, dada a naturalidade com que o J-K expressa as suas imagens caprichosas, auxiliadas pelo seu tom de voz único. Peculiarmente, e apesar de nunca nos incentivar a tal, há todo um sentimento positivo que toma conta de nós ao ouvir este trabalho que caminha sempre entre a simplicidade desarmante e a densidade poética. A musicalidade é contagiante neste registo, cortesia da tendência natural do J-K a atribuir nuances melódicas ao seu rap e ao trabalho de produção de DarkSunn, Nexus, Taseh e Stray (que também rima no tema título do EP).

J-K veio para provar que há espiritualidade e ligação às raízes no rap alternativo."

Dogs Playing Poker - an homage

So, i decided to make a personal homage to this painting by C.M.Coolidge, part of a series of 16 paintings from 1903 (Dogs Playing Poker), his only known work. This in particular is really referenced in popular culture and considered pretty kitschy, but i felt drawn to it from the first time i saw it. I find it really ahead of it's time, i love the quirkyness and all the details.
And here's my take on it!

Sorry for the lack of posts...but this is what has been keeping me busy..

RIVALS!

We've all had rivals. We've thrown darts at them, figure of speech or otherwise. But not all of them are known enemies. We know they plot against us, but we can't put a face on them. Enter our logo. They want to make sure we fail miserably, but we will counter their inteligence and spy back on them. we don't want to be winners, we want to conquer in the fashion of a true underdog winner. Behind the Rivals brand, there are people who grew up feeling this way. They have faced off against 8-bit monsters and adversaries first, then against schoolyard champions, corporate vampires and well...all types of expectations from their families. Now, they bring you their tales of awkwardness and wit, instigations and invasions and mostly, of never really wanting to became something they are not just because everybody is supposed to suit up, shut up and grow up. All that, in clothing.

Finally, time to blog! It's been a while, work just hasn't been giving me a break.
Hopefully, from now on, i'll have more chances to make stuff for myself...and blog it!
